MTIS was formed in 2009 as a spin-out company between an International University and a local SME. While MTIS has come a long way its core services still focus on Metallurgy, Failure Investigation, the Performance of Materials, Materials Characterisation & Testing. Our mission remains: to Answer Materials Questions.

MTIS directors Dr Andrew Spowage  and EurEng Nigel Brewitt are both Chartered Engineers and fellows of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining as well as the Institute of Materials Malaysia. Together Andrew and Nigel have over 50years of combined experience in MTIS’s core capabilities.

The MTIS way focuses resources on its people. An experienced and well qualified engineering team ensures we don’t just deliver raw results, rather MTIS provides actionable answers. MTIS holds core equipment within our own facilities. However, no laboratory can hold every type of equipment. MTIS has a network of partner laboratories which enable access to sophisticated analytical tools. The approach ensures the best tool for the job is available without having to pass on the high overhead costs associated with larger labs to our customers. In addition, replication of instrumentation at different laboratories means that maintenance and failure issues that plague individual labs can be managed effectively.
